In the Fongbe language, "kancícà" means "link": a word that brings together memories, worlds, and imaginations.
Between poetry and fantasy, Laeïla Adjovi and Joséphine Derobe present Kancícà, an immersive film that explores the visible and invisible links between Africa and Brazil.
Supported by an international and multidisciplinary team, Kancícà tells the story of Dotou, a young cartographer and vodun practitioner who sets out in search of the banished queen Na Agontimé—a figure of resilience and shared cultures. Viewers will navigate between worlds in search of the banished queen, a symbol of resilience and shared cultures.
