Bande sonore

A series of collective listening sessions to explore Afro-diasporic music, combining immersive experiences, cultural transmission, and shared memory.

Music lies at the heart of the cultures we carry. At MansA, we celebrate it as a living language—constantly rediscovered to ensure its transmission yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Bande sonore program fully embodies this vision. These collective listening sessions accompany our first year, marked by federation, celebration, and affirmation. Through this format, we share our deep attachment to songs, rhythms, and instruments, and emphasize the central place they hold in Afro-diasporic cultural histories.

Intimate and immersive, each session will highlight a musical genre or a particular fusion, connected to a territory or a specific cultural theme. These gatherings will take place in a dedicated space within the Maison, designed for collective listening.

A Structured Listening Ritual

Each session will unfold as a ritual, paced by key moments designed to foster interaction between the audience and the artists. Upon arrival, participants will receive a booklet presenting the tracks, their origins, historical context, and cultural resonance. The gathering will open with a moment of sharing, where participants are invited to express their personal connection to the proposed music. Listening will then take place in an atmosphere of collective concentration, inspired by the circles of griots and storytellers: a living space woven with sound, stories, and transmission. Finally, a time for exchange will close the session, extending the experience through spoken word and strengthening the links between memory, emotion, and shared reflection.

With Bande sonore, MansA seeks to build bridges between past and present, transmission and experimentation, collective memory and sensory experience.
