On Thursday November 27, MansA welcomes Mélissa Laveaux for her first Veillée sonore, an intimate concert where her songs weave together memories, cultures and heritages.
On November 27, Mélissa Laveaux will take up residence at MansA for an intimate, poetic evening. A Canadian singer-songwriter of Haitian origin, she blends folk, blues, West Indian rhythms and Creole sounds to explore memory, exile and cultural crossbreeding.
The artist made a name for herself with her albums Radyo Siwèl (2018), entirely in Creole and inspired by Haitian militant songs, and Mama Forgot Her Name Was Miracle (2022), a tribute to feminist and queer figures. Her next project, At My Softest, I Am Most Dangerous (early 2026), will blend musical autobiography and intimate narratives recounting moments of psychic or physical peril, accompanied by bilingual essays. Mélissa Laveaux founded her independent structure, Twanèt, in 2019.
