Pioneers of French-language soul at the crossroads of continents, Hélène and Célia Faussart—known as Les Nubians—will be guests at MansA on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. To mark the re-release of their first two albums, the two sisters will look back on a unique artistic journey that has left a lasting mark on the history of contemporary Afro-descendant music.
In the late 1990s, as neo-soul was gaining international traction, Les Nubians established a distinctive voice with their French-language soul, infused with African, jazz, and R&B influences. Born to a French father and a Cameroonian mother, Hélène and Célia Faussart place multiple identities at the heart of their artistic approach, helping to bring forth an avant-garde Afro-European aesthetic.
Their debut album, *Princesses Nubiennes* (1998), was an international success and introduced the general public to songs that have since become classics, such as “Makeda.” With *One Step Forward* (2003), they cemented their place on the global music scene by creating a sound that blends cultures and diasporas.
Nearly thirty years after their debut, their music remains a symbol of a cosmopolitan generation capable of bridging African heritage and contemporary creativity.
This event will combine music listening, live performances, and interaction with the audience. It offers a rare opportunity to rediscover the work of the Nubians through their own stories and to engage with two artists whose careers have had a profound impact on the history of contemporary Afro-descendant music.
