To mark the centenary of the birth of Dr. Frantz Fanon (1925-1961), MansA turns the spotlight on this major figure in revolutionary thought.

On Tuesday April 29, Le Nouvel Odéon cinema (Paris 6th arrondissement) will welcome Jean-Claude Barny's film Fanon . The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director and producer Sébastien Onomo, who will address the issues of representation, the challenges of producing this type of narrative, and the persistent tensions surrounding colonial memory.

This biopic, released in April 2025, traces the journey of the Martinican psychiatrist, from his arrival in Algeria in 1953 to his involvement with the FLN. As chief physician at the Blida-Joinville psychiatric hospital, Fanon introduced innovative methods, challenging the colonial practices of his time. His intellectual and political commitment led him to distance himself from the medical institution to devote himself to the struggle for Algerian independence.
